Four Reasons Korea Is a Great Summer Destination
Summer in Korea can be hot and humid. But the country is well prepared to make summer travel comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable.
Hotels, restaurants, museums, shopping centers, and public transportation are widely air-conditioned. In central Seoul, public plazas become urban water playgrounds, while the city’s evenings offer riverside festivals, illuminated streets, and lively night views. Korea’s high-speed trains and express buses also make it easy to travel beyond Seoul.
Since last year, the worldwide popularity of KPop Demon Hunters has brought even greater attention to Seoul and Korean culture, inspiring more international travelers to experience Korea for themselves—even in midsummer.
Summer is no longer a season to avoid Korea. It is another exciting time to experience the energy of K-culture and the rhythm of Korean cities.

♦️A COOLER WAY TO EXPERIENCE SUMMER♦️ |
1. A City Designed for Cool Comfort |
Across Korea, hotels, restaurants, cafés, department stores, museums, and public transportation are equipped with reliable air conditioning.
During the hottest part of the day, travelers can explore museums, galleries, shopping destinations, and cultural experience centers. Outdoor attractions can then be enjoyed in the cooler morning and evening hours.
The ability to combine indoor and outdoor activities makes summer travel in Korea both flexible and comfortable.

2. Seoul Becomes an Urban Summer Resort
From July 20 to August 9, 2026, Gwanghwamun Square will host Seoul Summer Beach, transforming one of the city’s most iconic landmarks into a refreshing urban retreat.
Swimming pools, water slides, splash facilities, rest areas, and visitor amenities will allow travelers to enjoy a summer festival surrounded by Seoul’s palaces and modern skyline.
Visitors do not have to travel far to escape the heat. A refreshing summer experience awaits right in the heart of Seoul.

3. Seoul’s Summer Comes Alive After Dark |
When the heat of the day begins to fade, a different side of Seoul comes to life.
Well-lit and lively destinations such as Cheonggyecheon Stream, Gwanghwamun Square, and the Hangang parks make evening walks and night tours easy to enjoy. Travelers can experience illuminated city streets, riverside breezes, sunset views, and Seoul’s vibrant nighttime atmosphere.
The 2026 Hangang River Festival – Summer, taking place from August 1 to 16, will offer a variety of water activities, cultural programs, and riverside experiences.
Spend the day exploring cool indoor attractions, then enjoy the sunset and night views along the Hangang River.

4. Easy Connections Beyond Seoul |
A summer journey in Korea does not have to end in Seoul.
High-speed KTX trains, premium express buses, and domestic flights provide convenient connections to destinations such as Busan, Gyeongju, Gangneung, Jeonju, Andong, Yeosu, and Jeju Island.
Busan can be reached from Seoul in approximately two and a half hours by KTX, while Gyeongju takes around two hours. Without the need for a long-distance drive, travelers can easily combine beaches, UNESCO World Heritage sites, historic cities, and regional cuisine in one itinerary.
