A new place to slow down has opened in the heart of Seoul. Since September 18, 2026, visitors to Nodeul Island can explore its newly opened riverside area,
stroll through gardens and enjoy views of the Han River. This opening is the first step in Soundscape, the wider transformation of Nodeul Island designed by Thomas Heatherwick’s Heatherwick Studio. Known for New York’s Vessel and Little Island, the studio envisions a place where nature, culture and art come together. For now, the riverside gardens offer a refreshing pause in a Seoul journey—and an early glimpse of the island’s future.

Follow the 1.5-kilometer loop trail around the island. The river and city skyline come into view from different angles as you walk.

Discover the newly opened ecological, play, grass and terraced gardens. Each offers a different way to enjoy nature beside the river.
