SEOUL, FIVE YEARS AT THE TOP
Why Global Millennials and Gen Z Keep Choosing Korea’s Capital
Seoul has once again been named the Favorite Worldwide City by global Millennial and Gen Z travelers in the 2026 Trazees Awards.
This marks Seoul’s fifth consecutive year at No. 1, making it the first city ever to win the category five years in a row.
But what keeps travelers coming back to Seoul?
The answer may be less about famous landmarks—and more about the way the city is experienced today.

♦️WHY SEOUL KEEPS WINNING♦️ |
1. A CITY THAT OFFERS MORE THAN SIGHTSEEING |
Today’s travelers are looking beyond traditional must-see attractions.
In Seoul, they can explore trendy pop-up stores and creative spaces in Seongsu, discover music and nightlife around Hongdae and Euljiro, or search for vintage finds in Dongmyo.
These neighborhoods offer something increasingly important to international travelers: a chance to experience how locals actually live, shop, create, and spend their time.
2. CULTURE, FOOD, SHOPPING—AND NATURE
Few global capitals allow travelers to move so easily between urban culture and nature.
A morning of shopping or museum visits can be followed by a hike on Bukhansan, Achasan, or other mountains within the city, before ending the day with Korean dining and Seoul’s nightlife.
This combination of culture, food, shopping, wellness, and outdoor experiences gives travelers the freedom to create very different journeys within a single destination.
3. TRAVELERS ARE DISCOVERING A DIFFERENT SEOUL |
nternational visitors are also moving beyond Seoul’s traditional tourism areas.
According to an analysis cited by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, foreign visitor numbers in 2025 increased year-on-year at places including Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Achasan, Hongdae, Naksan Park, Gwangjang Market, and Gwanaksan.
The trend suggests that visitors are increasingly interested not only in iconic Seoul, but also in its neighborhoods, markets, cultural spaces, and everyday lifestyle.

4. WHY THIS MATTERS FOR TRAVEL TO KOREA |
The Trazees Awards are based on votes from readers aged 40 and under, a key segment of the international business travel market. For travel professionals, Seoul’s fifth consecutive win reflects a broader shift in Korea tourism.
Travelers are no longer coming only to “see Korea.”
They want to experience Korea—through food, design, local neighborhoods, markets, nature, wellness, fashion, and contemporary culture. And Seoul provides all of these experiences within one remarkably connected city.
For our partners at daOne Tour, this creates even more possibilities to design Korea journeys that go beyond traditional sightseeing and introduce travelers to the many different sides of Seoul.
Seoul is no longer simply a gateway to Korea. For many global travelers, it has become a destination worth returning to again and again.
